My book signing VIDEO

March 21, 2008 when I had my book signing event was an awful day in Chicago in terms of weather. Those of you who couldn't make it to the event because of the snow storm can now watch the summary of the event on VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoNbuQiYm8E

This 10,5 minutes video will give you a very good idea of what my book is about, how I came about to writing it, what I do at my seminars, etc.

Overall it was a fun event and I am very grateful to my dedicated friends and fans who stopped by in such a weather and to Barnes & Noble bookstore on Diversey which hosted it.

Organization for single working women

Recently I wound an interesting organization for women - SWWAN - uniting "single working women everywhere" (http://www.swwan.com/) It is a membership organization with headquarters in Chicago especially helpful for entrepreneurs. The benefits offered are cntered around discounts and business promotion. They are as follows:

1.SWWAN membership card gives discounts and/or special services at restaurants, mechanics, car dealers, dry cleaners, banks, and hundreds of SWWAN-approved merchants everywhere. e-2. e-Newsletter provides articles and columns to help you work smarter in your job or be more profitable in your business.
3. Connect with
4. Win prizes: each SWWAN of the month wins something like a lunch or dinner for one at a participating SWWAN vendor restaurant. SWWAN of the year wins a luxurious spa.
5. Small business owners can cut down on your cost for developing marketing materials…save 15% on copywriting, editorial or design/layout services when you work with SWWAN-operated vendors. Get 15% off public relations services to promote your business.
6. SWWAN member also get discounts on other essential business services like shipping, for example. .
7. List your services or products for free on SWWAN’s online store
8. Get listed as an expert in your field in the SWWAN Book of Experts.

As far as I understood they don't have networking events as such but they try their best to cover some other needs of single working women.

Immigration - hot issue in the 2008 Presidential Elections

I have recently discovered an interesting article about myself and my book in relation to the 2008 Presidential Campaign: http://www.eyeinpr.com/home/category/politicn-in-the-city. I always said that all eyes are now on illegal immigrants and no one really takes care about people who come here legally. Thousands of families relocate when one spouse gets a job offer in the U.S. Who cares about the other spouse, how is he/she supposed to adjust in a new country and rebuild his/her life?

Thousands of families win Green Card in a lottery every year and a lot of them come here with dreams but without having a clue about how to look for a job or start their business. My voice, my book and my seminars are the only comprehensive resources for legal aliens and I am very glad that others start paying attention to the issues related to legal immigrants.

The article includes an interesting video of the debate between Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton on the issues of immigration.

P.S. The article mentions my seminar on March 10 (oops, too late :-) . The next one is scheduled for April 14, please, visit www.legalaliensguide.com/Seminars for more details

"The Legal Alien's Guide" is nominated for the Book of the Year Award

I am very excited to share the following news: my book, "The Legal Alien's Guide", was selected as one of the finalists of ForeWord Magazine's 2007 Book of the Year Awards!

ForeWord’s book awards program focuses on sparking the attention of librarians and booksellers by recognizing the literary achievement of independent publishers and their authors. A jury of librarians, booksellers and reviewers judge the categories and select finalists based on editorial excellence, professional production, originality and the value the book adds to its genre.

The Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will be announced at the end of May so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

A good informational site for people relocating to USA

I have recently found another great site for people relocating to the U.S. - http://www.usaers.com/

It provides information per state on the following topics:
- General Information
- Education
- Visa and Immigration
- Business
- Government
- Tourism

The information provided is very detailed, well-structured and the site is very easy to navigate. The site is great as a reference guide, for instance, in Illinois it lists virtually all (nearly 200) newspapers in the state on one page with their web site addresses.
